L(ani) Zastre is Manitoba born. She grew up in Alberta but made her way back to Manitoba where she now lives with her partner and two children. L. Zastre is a self-educated artist, social justice and mental health advocate and survivor living with a disability on Treaty One Land. L is a true believer that there is an artist in everyone.
Over the years I have used art as a way of tolerating distressing situations, feelings and thoughts. My practice has included creating art daily. Art has given me inspiration and helped me embrace a life that is full of stories outside the lines. I love drawing people in moments of vulnerability and strength. I love giving people the opportunity to see themselves in art. I love that my artistic practice is evolving to include connecting with my community in new and different ways.
Love the exhibition! I would like to buy the Jim Derksen portrait. Thanks. Diane
