Creative Accessibility: Exploring Creative Access with Amy Amantea

June 23, 2022 @ 12:00 pm 2:00 pm

Image Description: Amy Amantea (she/her) is a white settler, lives with legal blindness and is neurodivergent. With her white cane tucked under her arm, Amy smiles directly into the camera, holding a pair of wooden rhythm sticks in her hands. Her orange and black wardrobe pops vibrantly and her long dark hair is held back by a pair of sunglasses a top her head.

Creative Access is a tool by which the artists can use to make their work more accessible for audiences who are blind or partially sighted. In this workshop we will introduce some of the techniques of this work, talk about the difference between a service provider who creates live or audio description and ask participants to give it a try in the spirit of access. Practice builds confidence and artists have ultimate control over their work giving them a prime opportunity to build in access from the very beginning
