Harper K. Smith is a queer and mad/disabled, freakfolk-pop musician from Winnipeg (Treaty 1 Territory). Her songs ache over broken relationships, sickness, and death, while still pointing—albeit wearily—to her visions of a glittery apocalypse and reborn world. Her performances stop time, freezing audiences in place with nothing to do but listen.

STATEMENT

Cities covered in wildfire smoke. Robocalls the only semblance of connection. In her debut EP, “thirty candles,” Harper K. Smith meets a grim world with glittery tears and a bloody smile. From jangly pop riffs to haunting melodies, a range of sounds reflect the disorienting swirl of the current moment. In the end, Smith presses “control+alt+delete” on it all, rebooting her own inner world.
