Sunday November 18, 9-12 & 1-5pm

This class condenses lectures and demonstrations to cover material quickly. We will bind a chapbook, accordion, papyrus scroll, and a full cloth, sewn hardcover notebook – all in the first 3 hour session – then move on to binding historical structures like a Nag Hamadi single quire codex, and on to books with and without sewing, to books that do not look ‘handmade’ and books that do, and finally, a fitted archival book box. There will be time for questions/advice on independent binding projects. This class gives people with some previous binding experience a chance to practice, refine, and expand their book repertoires.

Susan Mills is an artist and bookbinder.  Her glow-in-the-dark field notebook public workshop is scheduled for Nuit Blanche Saskatoon in September and she will be an exhibitor at the Codex International Book Fair, San Francisco, in early 2019.  susanmillsartistbooks.com
