Event Activities details:

Make & Take – Critter Creations with artist sculptor Bob Dann; Saturday, Sept. 28, 1 – 2:20 and 2:30 – 4

Create your own wee critters using an easy to sculpt material with the guidance of Winnipeg artist Bob Dann. Bob has been sculpting larger critters using clay for over 25 years and you can ask him any art related questions while you follow along. Your creation is yours to keep or give to someone special. Enjoy this family activity for all ages over 5 able to understand some simple instructions with patience.

Make & Take – For the Birds! with artist Ruth Kamenev; Saturday, Sept. 28, 1:30 – 2:45 and 3 – 4:15

Create some Manitoba birds to either take home or hang in our trees with the guidance of Winnipeg artist Ruth Kamenev. Ruth has been a watercolour artist for years along with some other mediums so ask her any art related questions while you paint your bird. Enjoy this family activity for ages 10 and up.

Plein Air Sketching with artist Robert Sim; Saturday, Sept. 28, 3 – 4 and 4:15 – 5:15

This will be sketching outdoors (weather dependent/will set up some still life as an alternative) with artist Robert. Learn some basic sketching guidelines to produce basic pencil renderings of what you see – studying shapes, forms & textures. Independent activity recommended for ages 13 and up.

Sketching a Clown Model with artist Robert Sim; Saturday, Sept. 28, 7:00 – 9:00 pm

This will be sketching of professional model Ady Kay as clown ‘Vario’ with artist Robert Sim. Learn some basic sketching guidelines to produce pencil renderings of what you see – studying portrait, shape, contours, textures & colour if you want to add other mediums. Independent activity recommended for ages 13 and up.

Outdoor Art – Glowing Welcome Mats & Chalk Art with artists James Culleton & Glenna Evans;

Saturday, Sept. 28, 9:00 to 11:30 pm

Outdoor Art – Brighten our parking lot & sidewalks with colourful welcome mats or quilt pattern creations. James &/or Glenna will guide you in adding colour to our surrounding outdoor surfaces. Both artists have been immersed in a variety of creative arts including murals, metal sculpting, plein air art & much more. You can ask them any art related questions while you follow along. Enjoy this artistic activity recommended for ages 13 and up.

Night Owls by James Culleton & Michael Koch-Schulte; Saturday, Sept. 28, 9pm to 3 am

An animated sound installation – the plight of birds.
