CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS: Among both the LGBTQIA+ and disability communities, it’s common to find stories of coming out – everything from stories of queer folx coming out to loved ones, to stories of crip folx coming out to themselves by owning their identities. JORTSFEST is gathering stories and perspectives like these to compile a zine called “COMING OUT”.

COMING OUT is a zine about the emotional and physical spaces in which people were comfortable enough to embrace their various identities. What mindset allowed you to finally view yourself in a positive light? What community helped you foster pride in your identity?

How can we create more spaces like these? How can we make sure that everyone has access to the power found in those spaces?

JORTSFEST is seeking submissions in the form of poetry, prose, and visual art that explore these questions and more. The zine will be made publicly available, free of cost, and in an accessible format. All submissions included in the zine will be credited.
