Book Launch “Jonathan and the Big Barbecue”

For Immediate Release: June 28/2019

We are very excited to be launching our newest children’s book “Jonathan and the Big Barbecue” in collaboration with Adam Schwartz at our upcoming Youth Mental Wellness Festival, July. 6th, 2019. In the story, we see Jonathan experience his senses differently. For him, loud noises, crowds of people, an unexpected hug, or encountering unfamiliar food can be all too much. There are many children like Jonathan. These things are just part of who they are, and it can help to think about when we feel overwhelmed by our senses, to help us understand their experience.

Adam Schwartz is a writer, stand-up comedian and playwright on the autism spectrum. His children’s book “Ana and the Substitute teacher” will be performed at the Fringe Festival this summer! He has also been recognized for his work in the Autism community for his work and was nominated as one of CBC’s Future 40 under 40 in 2015. The book is filled with captivating images by Stephanie Labonté who is an award-winning artist and illustrator who obtained her Fine Arts Degree at the University of Manitoba.

This launch will take place at the 2nd annual FREE Family Mental Wellness Festival is on July 6 at Assiniboine Park from 11-5pm.

Come and join us to celebrate the launch of our book!
