Alix Babiak

Alix Babiak is a playwright, author, director, choreographer, producer and retired Mental Health Worker.  

Alix is best known for her work with the intellectually and physically disabled where she ran art programs, annual plays, and dance programs for over 13 years in St. Malo, Manitoba.  She has had her own dance school in St. Malo. Co-wrote, directed and choreographed many plays for the intellectually and physically disabled and then went on to her writing and choreography career. She is considered a Dance Artist, a Theatre Artist, a Literary Artist and an Established Artist by the Manitoba Arts Council and Dance and Theatre Artist by the Canada Council of the Arts.  She has written 8 books of plays, stories and poems which are in the Library Archives of Canada.  She is  working on two more books to be finished by the end of the 2025.  She a Bachelor of Fine Arts Honours major dance and minor theatre, Her 1st year After Degree Education Degree and a Mental Health Worker Certificate.  She won an in-house scholarship at York University and studied with the Best. As Thomas Szasz would say Alix has had some problems with living but dealt with them, got over them and has the wisdom of someone who’s lived close to a century.  Alix loves to dance, dance with the wind, dance with the stance of pony’s prance, With a heel and a toe and away I will go.
