Thomas Duret creates performances, hybrid forms, scenic systems, and interdisciplinary projects that adapt to the social contexts in which he operates. In his creations, Duret uses as a starting point a psychological mechanism of the human being or a societal mechanism and, through the spectrum of power dynamics, explores their impact on the individual and the collective. The codes of theater, dance, performance, clown, music, visual/plastic arts, and sport are all tools (which he doesn’t hesitate to subvert) for creating artistic objects, while seeking to redefine the audience’s role as actants of the project rather than passive spectators. Thomas focuses his activities on creating new scenic forms/writings through a collaborative, interdisciplinary, and socially inclusive approach.
Since 2011, more than twenty projects and performances have been presented in various institutions and festivals in Quebec (La Chapelle – Scènes contemporaines, Mois Multi, Les Escales Improbables de Montréal, Festival de rue de Lachine, ZH, OUMF, and Festival International de Littérature). The company has obtained several residencies for its projects, both in Canada (Montreal, Maison pour la Danse de Québec, Sherbrooke (CASJB), Ottawa (Théâtre du Trillium), Longueuil, Vaudreuil-Dorion, and Victoria (BC)) and abroad (Senegal, Germany, France, Argentina).
