“In Solitude, Unity”
AANM is calling all Deaf and disabled artists to submit artwork for a juried show with an opening reception on Nuit Blanche Winnipeg 2020. The theme for the exhibition “In Solitude, Unity”. Artists may wish to explore how the disability community is often isolated from the general public and how the pandemic has forced the general public to be united with the disability community in that isolation or solitude. Other interpretations are more than welcomed!
The chosen works will be projected onto the side of our offices at 329 Cumberland Ave. for Nuit Blanche and will be part of an online exhibition. All Artwork will be professionally photographed and must be delivered to our offices by September 21st 2020.
Only one-sided photographable works will be accepted, e.g. Paintings, photographs, drawings, flat beadwork, digital images, etc. If you have any questions about whether your artwork would qualify please contact Jenel Shaw at (204)336-2366 or info@aanm.ca
Entry Requirements:
Artists must be a current member of AANM at the time of submission (Contact executive director Jenel Shaw (info@aanm.ca) for information on becoming a member).
Artists must self-identify as an artist with a disability or Deaf artist.
Please submit the following:
- Artist CV
- Artist Statement: explain why you would like to be a part of this exhibition and how your work relates to the theme. Artists may also include if they are apart of any minority community such as the BIPOC community, newcomer to Canada, etc. as priority will be given to those communities. 500 words max
- Images: Submit up to 3 images in the following format:
-JPEG (.jpg, .jpeg)
-1.5 MB max
-RBG colour mode
-file names: 01InitialsYearTitle.jpg (Image number, applicant’s initials, year of the work, title of the work)
