Studio 607 – Opening

Ryan is proud to unveil his Studio 607 exhibit. He is an Award winning Canadian Artist. In 2012 the United Nations selected one of Ryan’s paintings, which is reproduced on a postage stamp and is available for sale worldwide. He has been an honored guest of the United Nation Assembly in New York. In attendance was Secretary General H.E Ban Ki-Moon.

The opening event is facilitated by Ryan’s mentor and renowned artist Diana Thorneycroft, Diana curated Ryan’s 2016 solo art show CULTURE SHOCK at the Actual contemporary Gallery. She also facilitated Ryan’s “Visual Language” exhibit.

Diana Thorneycroft says Ryan’s process is organic and begins with highly detailed color sketches. His talent, wit and intelligence shine through. As both his curator and mentor I always encourage him to be himself and to embrace his vivid darker imagination. Ryan is a true artist, art is Ryan’s form of expression he definitely has his own unique style.
Ryan has Autism, a life long Neurodevelopmental Disorder. Ryan says Autism is both a blessing and a curse, “It definitely effects my creative process.“When I get an image in my brain I have to see it through with almost relentless persistence I try to listen to what the artwork says. I get a great deal of inspiration from surfing the Internet for current political issues, news and historical stories. I am fascinated by social media, the hype of consumerism and urban pop culture”.
Ryan is a graduate of the Production Art program at Manitoba Institute of Trades and Technology. They still remain a big support to him. He obtained a Fine Arts degree from University of Manitoba.
Ryan says:
“My favorite sculpture to create is THE STARFIGHTER. It is part of Canadian history. The pilots that flew this plane nickamed it The Widow Maker.
My favorite painting is WE ARE NOT AMUSED, It’s my take on the Internets obsession with cat videos; it’s a fun piece. I’m inspired and influenced by Diana Thorneycroft, she was my art instructor years ago at the University of Manitoba.
She got my quirky sense of humor immediately! Even though my artwork sometimes got a little on the darker side. She always encouraged me to GO FOR IT !”.
