Canada 150: Craft in Red and White
Exhibit Opening: Friday, December 1, 7 pm – 9 pm
Canada 150: Craft in Red and White showcases a variety of work that differs in artist, medium, function, culture and era, but maintains a commonality of colour. This exhibit is meant to at once reflect the colours of our nation’s flag, as well as highlight the traditional use of red and white in craft cross-culturally throughout history.
The exhibit features artifacts from the Manitoba Craft Museum and Library’s collection as well as work from contemporary artists, Craft in Red and White.
Some pieces invite reflection and examination of our nation’s history. Others simply use the dramatic and pleasing combination of red and white.
