Job Posting: Communications and Volunteer Coordinator, 1 year contract

About AANM:

Arts AccessAbility Network Manitoba is a not-for-profit organization dedicated tothe full inclusion of artists and audiences with disabilities into all facets of the arts community.

Communications and Volunteer Coordinator:

The Communications and Volunteer Coordinator will be responsible for developing and implementing strategies to enhance AANM’s visibility, engage target audiences, and effectively communicate its mission and initiatives. This role involves a combination of outreach activities, content creation, and relationship building to support the organization’s goals and objectives. The successful applicant will also play a pivotal role in recruiting, managing, and retaining volunteers to support AANM’s mission and initiatives. This position involves coordinating volunteer activities, ensuring positive volunteer experiences, and fostering a sense of community among volunteers.

This position will require a commitment of 15 hours of work per week. These hours are flexible to meet the needs of staff and of the job. This position can also be fulfilled remotely. It may require weekly meetings with the Executive Director.

Qualifications :

  • Appreciation for what AANM does, and its mission;
  • Demonstrated knowledge of digital communications and platforms including WordPress, Facebook, Instagram and other social media;
  • Experience and knowledge of accessibility coordination for artistic and cultural events and community gatherings digitally (such as zoom);
  • Sound knowledge of and experience with event marketing; 
  • Strong writing, communications, and interpersonal skills;
  • Ability to effectively manage time;
  • Commitment to community engagement and generating and nurturing equitable spaces for various audiences and communities;
  • Graphic Design Skills;
  • Strong Attention to detail
  • Lived experiences of Deaf and/or disability an asset ;

Responsibilities:

Communications Coordinator Duties:

  • Develop outreach strategies to reach un-tapped membership especially under-represented artist genres (writers, musicians, performers).
  • Promote AANM Member benefits through newsletters, social media and the website.
  • Showcase the non-visual arts artforms in AANM presentations / exhibitions. 
  • Generate compelling and impactful content for various platforms including press releases, newsletters, social media, and the website. 
  • Cultivate relationships with media outlets and journalists.
  • Draft and distribute press releases, and actively seek opportunities for media coverage.Manage and grow AANM’s social media presence.
  • Create and schedule regular, engaging content to promote awareness and interaction.
  • Coordinate marketing of events with AANM staff.

Volunteer Coordinator Duties*:

  • Develop and implement strategies for recruiting and onboarding volunteers, beginning with current AANM members who have expressed interest in volunteering.
  • Create engaging volunteer opportunities that align with AANM’s goals.
  • Create and manage volunteer schedules, ensuring adequate coverage for events and projects.
  • Establish and maintain regular communication with volunteers through various channels (emails, newsletters, meetings).
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of volunteer information, hours, and activities.

*These duties will begin once the staff has settled in with the communications duties, 6-9 months after start date.

The Communication and Volunteer Coordinator will be hired on a one-year contract with the possibility of extending the contract to a permanent position. The first three months is a trial period with a review at the end of March 2025.

Position Reports to: Executive Director

Remuneration: $1200.00 per month (Gross) for 60 hours per month, 15 hours of work per week at a rate of $20.00 per hour

Total Value of Contract: $15,600.00 (Gross)
